Danny called at about 11:00 looking to see if I wanted a load. Duh. Jumped in the shower and when I got back, had a load pre-planned. Whee! Deliver in Michigan. After making sure there would be no problems because I'm in the Western 11 fleet, I accepted the load. It's gonna be tight, but I think I can make it.
During PTI, noticed that right front outside drive tire is... coming apart. Gotta get that fixed before I hit the road.
Finally on the road at about 15:00 (give or take), northbound on I-5 to I-84. Glad I'm going against traffic. Southbound I-5 is a mess around Portland, as all all the major lines that feed I-5. I was worried about east bound 84, but strangely it's actually lighter than normal.
Finally a chance to compare this truck to 4230. That is, I've driven 4230 over some of these roads before, hauling heavy loads. Let's see how 4253 does.
Heh – MUCH better. On quite a few of the hills, nothing more than a drop out of OD is needed. So far, I've not had to drop down to 4th at all. 4230 would definitely have needed 4th climbing Cabbage.
