Got longer tether for the key and started the truck. It's a 2005, as 4230 is, but it's a different package – a few things in different places, different arrangement of handy-bins over the windshield, that sort of thing. Will take a little getting used to, but it's not bad.
Engine is clean and dry, all fluids are within spec, and generally everything is ready to go. Only up-front complaint I have is the nose-mounted fish eye mirror. It's not designed to show the front of the truck at all the way the old one was. This is strictly for highway blind spot use. That's nice, but I'd rather the mirror stick out in front and allow a view of my own bumper as well.
On the good side, mattress is in much better shape than the one in 4230, and there's at least one additional lighter plug available – AND the reading light works!
I've checked in with Mindy, so she knows I'm ready to go. It's just a matter of finding me a load, now.
She found me one. Light load – about 32000 pounds – going to Las Vegas. Never been there before. Dunno how many loads come out of the area, but it's 675 miles I didn't have assigned to me this morning.
Hitch: Paperwork says the load is going to Kent, WA. Mindy checked, though. Says customer changed delivery instructions, so what I have on the Q is correct. Off I go.
Stopped in Mountain Home and submitted 3 unsubmitted trips good for about 2200miles. Add in 5 days of breakdown pay, and I should see about $1000 Thursday.
Much happier with this truck than 4230. Yeah, there are some minor things that bug me, but so far today I've had to downshift for a hill once. That's a HUGE improvement over 4230. Add in the fact that so far I'm getting about 6.3mpg- which is a 25% improvement over 4230 and yeah, I like this truck a whole lot better.
Midnight in Ely, NV. About 400 miles driven, give or take. Getting tired, but want to get another hour in.
